MacICT workshops at Office of Schools Conference

I just want to reflect on the amazing work done by our team at the Office of Schools Conference earlier this month.
The Game Design team had a fantastic presentation and a packed house for the 'Students as Game Designers using 3D animation' session. Cathie and Anthony prepared a very comprehensive workshop using prezi. Judy Farr, participating teacher from Cromer Public School and 2 students, presented as well. The audience was captivated by the eloquence from Judy and the confidence of both the students in talking about their learning. I loved how Judy spoke of taking off her "L plates" and putting on her "P plates". What a star!
Using Panasonic's new multitouch board, the students demonstrated how to storyboard while Cathie, Anthony and Judy spoke about the project and the teaching experiences. Many thanks to Matt Brown from Panasonic for his support with this. The students then demonstrated their own games and took questions from the audience. There was a request from the audience to show how to use the software to start a game and the students demonstrated this quickly and easily to the awe of the crowd.
In the LEP workshop, Cate, Kathy, Jenny, John and Andreas along with Maree Forbes from Barrenjoey High School and 1 student delivered a very engaging, participative workshop about 'Using mobile learning devices in the field' - all about the Local Ecostudy Project. The audience were involved in using our iphones and our new MacICT app as demonstrated by our student from Barrenjoey High School. She was amazing. We had a highly engaged audience including one of the keynotes, Curtis Bonk, who came over and congratulated the team afterwards. I had the pleasure of receiving so much positive feedback from a number of DET colleagues. The teamwork was exceptional. I was very proud! Thank you to all my team. You are brilliant.
