Having the opportunity to invite some higher-end users of interactive whiteboards into the building was an interesting experience. Each of the teachers came with a short presentation that they shared with everyone. The quality and range of ideas and delivery was incredible! These teachers come frome Primary and Secondary classrooms. Nerida McGeachie delivered a very inspiring keynote and Sonya Griffith showed us all the SMART notebook Maths Beta version. Very cool!
Looking forward to building on from this day with more opportunities for these guys to get inspired by each other and to hear from leading users and thinkers in this field.
There needed to be more time to play and ask each other the more practical questions about classroom management as well as the usual technical how-to questions.
Student-centred strategies are still fairly rare and there needs to more examples of this available to view. What does this look like? How does a teacher manage this? What tools and skills are best for this approach?
The videos will be made available soon.
